Program Rewards Innovation, Potential for Wireless Industry and Users

SANTA BARBARA, California, January 14, 2009 – Andrew Seybold, Inc. today announced the opening of nominations for the annual Andrew Seybold Choice Awards, which recognize the accomplishments of companies in developing leading-edge technologies, devices, services and applications that impact the acceptance and use of wireless communications by business, consumer and Internet users.

Anyone wishing to submit a nomination is encouraged to visit http://www.andrewseybold.com/ChoiceAwards.asp to access the entry rules and nomination form. Nominations close February 6, 2009 after which finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, with Award recipients announced at International CTIA Wireless 2009, Las Vegas, April 1.

“Fueled by remarkable energy and creativity, the wireless industry has gained a level of importance in business and society that would scarcely have been imaginable only a decade or two ago,” Seybold said. “Innovation has driven tremendous growth for the industry and from a mere convenience, wireless communications has become must-have technology for business and consumers. With the Choice Awards, we continue to seek out the innovators and bring them to the attention of the media and the markets.”

Award categories include Most Innovative Wireless Technology; Most Innovative Wireless Device; Most Innovative Wireless Service; and Most innovative Wireless Application. Nominees must have released their offerings commercially during 2008, and each entry will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Solves a long-standing problem or represents an innovative approach
  • Efficient use of resources
  • Ease of use
  • Potential to attract more customers to wireless voice and/or data service
  • Functionality, features and price.

Products and services can be nominated in multiple categories, if relevant, and are eligible to receive multiple awards.

“These awards are inherently multidimensional in that they address all of the factors that contribute to market success,” Seybold said. “Each offering must fulfill a want or need; it must be technologically sound; it must be marketable; it must simplify the user’s life; and it must provide demonstrable value in terms of its usefulness and affordability.”

Seybold established the Choice Awards in 2002 and they are regarded by many as the “Oscars” of the wireless industry. Information about finalists and category winners will be included in news releases and promotional materials, including the Andrew Seybold, Inc. website. These companies are also entitled to use the Andrew Seybold Choice Award icon on their own websites and marketing collateral.
