The Mobile Internet: An Extension of the Wired Internet?

The Internet is driving broadband growth around the world. Recently, those who made their fortunes on the Internet have turned their attention to wireless. According to many, wireless broadband is simply an extension of the wired broadband Internet, and with LTE, data speeds will be equal to or better than today’s wired broadband services.

Data speeds of 50-100 Mbps are being bandied about for LTE, mostly by vendors, and it is no wonder that many with little or no experience in wireless believe the wireless Internet will be just like the wired Internet and that its primary uses will include browsing, searching, and streaming video.

What is real and what is fiction? This session will assess just how different the two Internets are and will be, and what is needed to optimize and manage the wireless broadband Internet to provide services for millions of customers using smartphones, portable computers, and tablets.
